My drum lessons are personalized and fun. Students and I will learn songs in genres of your choosing: rock, pop, alternative, jazz, funk- up to you! We will focus on “getting in the groove,” while paying attention to rhythm and timing. We will work on groove creation (how to create unique drum patterns), fills, improvisation, acoustics, and more.
To help students orient to grooves I will usually play bass guitar. This reinforces timing and helps students orient to the song structure. Students practice synchronizing with new rhythms, listening for melodies and musical cues, all while “getting in the groove” with another musician. I am always careful to reinforce proper drumming technique to promote healthy habits.
I love helping students develop their creativity and love for music by providing drum set skills.
Some benefits of drumming are: having fun, improving focus, experiencing flow, gaining the ability to connect with others through music.
