About me

My name is Jarrett Visher, I’m a 29-year-old UC Berkeley graduate based near Bernal Heights in San Francisco. I have 5 years of experience giving private drum lessons to youth and adults, and I have taught both at the School of Rock and at music summer camps. I have 20 years of experience drumming in various musical groups.

I bring a unique skill set as an educator and musician. As an educator, I have worked in youth development as an academic coach and music instructor. I am comfortable connecting with students from many backgrounds with various learning styles. I enjoy teaching both adults and youth.

As a musician, I started playing drums at age 9. I have been drumming in jazz, rock, funk, pop-punk, and metal groups since. I consider myself a multi-instrumentalist, and will usually play bass during drum lessons to orient students. Playing bass with students is a valuable component of lessons, as students practice synchronizing with new rhythms, listening for melodies and musical cues, all while “getting in the groove” with another musician.

I love playing music — I believe this is one of the great joys of life. I am honored to be able to help others grow their love of music and express their creativity through drumming.
